The FIM's initiative, to preserve and promote the historical and technological heritage of motorcycle racing through a program to certify the originality of old racing motorcycles is, in my opinion, interesting and deserves to be supported.

As a lover of racing in all its forms and disciplines - with a predilection for Endurance - and as a graduate in modern history, I can only encourage the work just begun by the FIM, wishing its full success.

In a world marked by disinformation and fake news, where history is abused and exploited at every turn, preserving and handing down the historical memory for those who will come after us is a commitment and a duty.

Even if, after all, we are only talking about our beloved GP motorcycles...

To light the path towards MotoGP, we have to celebrate our sporting history.

With the launch of FIM certification and the creation of the FIM Historic Events series, the FIM Heritage programme is an important part of this process.

Many actors are involved in preserving and enhancing sporting heritage, but FIM certification guarantees to both spectators and organisers the quality of the selections and machines presented.

After all, the “classic” stars are not just the riders but also, very often, the motorcycles themselves. The pit boxes have once again become a place where visitors can indulge their passions and share them.

The authentication and certification process makes it easier to give accurate and verified information to the younger generations. This educational dimension is important in presenting the important stages in the development of motorcycle racing technology.

From the very beginning of the FIM Heritage programme, the Sunday Ride Classic event has welcomed its members, showed them off and laid out a special stage for them.

This enables the history of our sport to be paraded past an awestruck audience. This work is vital to promote our events and attract more public interest.
